Checks and Balances…

In June of 2020, I enrolled in a standalone Basic Bookkeeping course at McMaster University to test the water for a career change. A few months later, I knew I wanted to completely shift away from my former profession of videography and move towards accounting.

I am now through my 5th semester of the Accounting Diploma program at McMaster, where I’ve studied Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Management Information Systems and Taxation.

After working as a bookkeeper while continuing courses, I decided to fly solo and launch Fyroch (pronounced FEER-ock) in the summer of 2023. The name is Swedish-inspired, because I incorporate Swedish customs and practices into not only my workday, but in my personal life too!

I have been very active for the past 3 years in accounting, from both an educational and a professional point of view. This includes becoming Quickbooks Desktop Certified in early 2022, Quickbooks Online Certified in March of 2023 and Quickbooks Online Advanced certified in October 2023.

Outside of accounting, I am an avid camper, hockey goalie and musician. I play guitar, fiddle and keyboard, and have dabbled with drums in the past. I have an insatiable curiosity and am always learning. I will never get bored in reading about space, future technology and geography.
